548 Patients Receive Free Vasti Karma Therapy at a Single Event in Visakhapatnam

: An Ayurveda-focused community health initiative in Visakhapatnam has been recognised for bringing together 548 patients for free Vasti Karma therapy at a single event, an achievement certified by The Book of World Records (TBWR).
The record was achieved on 18 August 2026 under the leadership of Dr T. Sundara Raj Perumall, Director of the Arogyadhatri Ayurveda Research Institute, in association with VARAMU Charitable Trust and Vishwa Ayurveda Parishad.

The achievement has been entered in the TBWR records under reference number TBWR/IND/2026/08/081.

A large-scale Ayurveda initiative

The programme brought together hundreds of beneficiaries for free Vasti Karma therapy as part of a coordinated Ayurveda health camp. The organisers documented the participation and treatment provided to the beneficiaries as the basis for the record claim.

According to the record documentation, 548 patients received free Vasti Karma therapy during the single event, making the number of beneficiaries the central measurable achievement of the record.

Vasti Karma is a traditional Panchakarma-related procedure in Ayurveda. The supplied documentation describes Matra Vasti as a form of Anuvasana Vasti in which a measured quantity of medicated oil or Sneha is administered through the rectal route, traditionally with the objective of pacifying Vata and providing nourishment.

Independent verification at the venue

A significant part of the record-certification process was the on-site verification conducted by Yatish Chandra Shukla, Chief Adjudicator of The Book of World Records.

Mr. Shukla personally visited the event venue and reviewed and verified the evidence relating to the record attempt, including the documentation and on-ground evidence associated with the number of beneficiaries who received the therapy.

The verification was conducted as part of TBWR’s adjudication process to establish that the claimed achievement corresponded with the evidence presented by the organisers.

Following completion of the verification process, the achievement was formally approved for recognition as a world record by The Book of World Records.

Certificate presented at the concluding ceremony

The record certificate was not merely issued administratively. It was presented at a special ceremony organised at the conclusion of the health camp, marking the completion of the record attempt and its verification.

Yatish Chandra Shukla presented the official The Book of World Records certificate to Dr T. Sundara Raj Perumall and representatives associated with the initiative during the concluding ceremony.

The certificate records the achievement as:

“Most Patients Receiving Free Vasti Karma Therapy at a Single Event.”

It is dated 18 August 2026 and carries the official reference number TBWR/IND/2026/08/081.

The ceremony provided an opportunity for the organisers, practitioners, participants and members of the supporting organisations to mark the completion of the initiative and the formal recognition of the achievement.

Its stated objectives include promoting Ayurveda, encouraging research, conducting seminars and health camps, and supporting the development of Ayurveda nationally and internationally.

A record based on measurable participation

The achievement is notable because the record is based on a clearly measurable parameter — the number of patients receiving free Vasti Karma therapy during one organised event.

Large-scale record attempts involving healthcare-related activities require careful coordination, documentation and verification. In this case, the organisers brought together the beneficiaries and practitioners within a single programme and maintained evidence for the record adjudication process.

The on-site presence of the TBWR adjudicator added an independent verification component to the certification process. After examining the evidence and completing the adjudication, the record was formally recognised.

Recognition of a community-oriented initiative

World records can represent achievements in areas ranging from sports and entertainment to science, education, culture and social service. The Visakhapatnam achievement represents a record centred on community participation and access to traditional healthcare services.

The initiative combined the efforts of an Ayurveda practitioner and institution with charitable and professional organisations, while bringing hundreds of beneficiaries together for a single organised programme.

The successful completion of the verification process and presentation of the certificate at the closing ceremony marked the culmination of the event.

With 548 patients receiving free Vasti Karma therapy at a single event, the Visakhapatnam initiative has now been officially recognised by The Book of World Records.
