The Book of World Records officially recognizes that The longest vertebrate on record was a diplodocid excavated in 1980 from New Mexico, USA named Seismosaurus halli, estimated to be 39–52 m. (128–170 ft) long based on comparisons of individual bones. In 1999, the bones were reconstructed at the Wyoming Dinosaur Center, to measure a total length of 41 m. (134.57 ft). It was disassembled in August 1999 to tour the States.
