The Book of World Records officially recognizes that The Boeing B-52 jet bomber, which entered service with the United States Air Force in 1954, is the longest-serving, currently operational, bomber aircraft. With 59 years of operational service already, it is schedule to remain in use until 2044 and receive a further US$24.6 million of upgrades to increase its ability to carry smart weapons.
