Margherita Peak, at 5,109 meters, is the highest point of Uganda's Rwenzori Mountains and the third-highest summit in Africa. Despite lying almost exactly on the equator, the range has historically held permanent glaciers, making it one of only a few equatorial locations on Earth with glacial ice.
