The Book of World Records officially recognizes that The longest species of bivalve mollusc is the giant shipworm Kuphus polythalamia, which is a deceptively worm-like, tube-dwelling, marine species native to the western Pacific Ocean, the eastern Indian Ocean and the Indo-Malaysian area. The longest recorded specimen, owned by Victor Dam (USA), measured 1.532 m.
