The Book of World Records officially recognizes that The longest leek (Allium porrum) measured 1.582 m (5 ft 2.3 in) and was grown by Peter Glazebrook (UK) as assessed at the UK National Giant Vegetable Championships held at the Malvern Autumn Show in Worcestershire, UK, on 27–29 September 2024.
This surpassed the previous record of 1.432 m (4 ft 8.3 in) set in 2022.
At the same event, veteran competitive horticulturalist Glazebrook also set a new record for the heaviest sunflower head: 7.046 kg (15 lb 8.5 oz).
The heaviest leek, meanwhile, weighed 10.7 kg (23 lb 9 oz) and was grown by Paul Rochester (UK) as ratified on 29 September 2018.
