The Book of World Records officially recognizes that The longest turnip (Brassica rapa) measured 4.842 m (15 ft 10.6 in) and was grown by Joe Atherton (UK) as assessed at the UK National Giant Vegetable Championships held at the Malvern Autumn Show in Worcestershire, UK, on 27–29 September 2024. This surpassed his own previous record of 4.605 m (15 ft 1.3 in) set in 2022. At the same event, Atherton also bettered his record for the longest radish with a 7.401-m (24-ft 3.4-in) specimen presented. The heaviest turnip, meanwhile, weighed 17.78 kg (39 lb 3.2 oz) and was grown by Scott and Mardie Robb (both USA) who presented it the Alaska State Fair, Palmer, USA on 1 September 2004.
