Antoni Gaudi's still-unfinished Sagrada Familia basilica in Barcelona surpassed Germany's Ulm Minster to become the world's tallest church after its central Tower of Jesus Christ was topped out, reaching roughly 162.91 meters. Construction on the basilica began in 1882 and continues toward a planned completion around 2026.
