At the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon, Nigerian sprinter Tobi Amusan ran the women's 100m hurdles semifinal in 12.12 seconds, breaking a world record that had stood since 2016. She went on to win the world title in the final, and although a faster wind-aided time she ran that same day was not counted, her semifinal mark stood as the ratified world record for two years before being broken in 2026.
