The Kuthodaw Pagoda complex in Mandalay holds 729 marble slabs, each inscribed with a page of Buddhist scripture and sheltered inside its own small white stupa. Completed in 1868 under King Mindon, the full set of tablets is often described as the world's largest book. Reading every slab in order would take a visitor many days.
