Spanish driver Fernando Alonso clinched the 2005 Formula One World Championship at age 24, becoming the youngest champion in the sport's history at that point and ending Michael Schumacher's run of five straight titles. Sebastian Vettel and later Max Verstappen have since claimed titles at younger ages, so the record no longer stands.
